Seven Executives Appointed to Greater Irvine Board of Directors

Seven executives from organizations either headquartered or with offices in Orange County have been appointed to the Greater Irvine Chamber Board of Directors.
The Chamber welcomes to its Board:
Mayssa Attar, Ph.D., DABT, Vice President, Non-Clinical and Translational Sciences, Research and Development, AbbVie
Attar leads an AbbVie integrated Translational Sciences unit with a team of scientists primarily focusing on neurotoxins, eye care, and aesthetics product development. Attar spent more than 21 years at Allergan (a company of AbbVie). Prior to joining the industry, Mayssa was an academic research scientist at the Loeb Research Institute in Ottawa, Canada. Since 2005, Attar has taught at the University of Southern California, School of Pharmacy where she served as adjunct faculty. Previously, she served on the Board of Directors of the Allergan Foundation, which supported charitable organizations and programs having a bold impact on communities where Allergan employees lived and worked. Mayssa earned her B.S. Hons and M.S. degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa in Canada. She completed her Ph.D. training in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Southern California under the mentorship of Dr. Vincent Lee, a pioneer in drug delivery. She is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology.
Susan Degrassi, Vice President, Administration and Cause, Antis Roofing and Waterproofing
As vice president of Administration and Cause, DeGrassi oversees the internal operations including human resources, IT, customer service, marketing, and corporate social responsibility efforts for Antis Roofing and Waterproofing— following the adopted motto of the company, “Keeping Families Safe and Dry.” Prior to her nonprofit role, DeGrassi had a long career in the homeowner association management industry with First Service Residential, overseeing 11 regions in California, 330 associations, and $55 million in revenue. As a member of the executive team, she was responsible for driving company performance. DeGrassi was previously the director of development for Families Forward, addressing the issue of family homelessness in Orange County prior to joining the Antis team. DeGrassi serves on the board of directors for the American Red Cross Orange County Chapter, and National Women in Roofing where she serves as chair of the organization’s Community Outreach Committee. She is a member of the Steering Committee for the Corporate Volunteer Council of Orange County with OneOC. She is a past member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Corporate Citizenship Council, and the past chair of a task force overseeing The Roofing Alliance for Progress relationship with Ronald McDonald House Charities. Degrassi is a member of the Orange County United Way Tocqueville Society and Women’s Philanthropy Fund. She was honored as the 2019 Woman of Influence by the Greater Irvine Chamber. She is an alumna of CSU Long Beach.
Jeff Garner, President of Business Relations, Orange County Soccer Club
Garner has more than 20 years of professional and collegiate sports business experience, most recently serving as president of the Alliance of American Football’s San Diego Fleet. Prior to relocating to Orange County, Garner spent five years with Penn State University Athletics in University Park, PA, starting in 2013 as an assistant athletic director, ticket sales and service. Garner worked closely with 11-ticketed sports and across six different venues including the iconic 107,000-seat Beaver Stadium. He began his career in Minor League Baseball and worked with several clubs including the Delmarva Shorebirds, New Britain (CT) Rock Cats, and nearly 10 years with Greenberg Sports Group, which owned and operated the Altoona Curve, State College Spikes, and Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Garner graduated from Robert Morris University in Pittsburg, while earning a varsity letter as a member of the FCS football team, which captured four Northeast Conference championships. Garner was inducted into the Robert Morris Sport Management Hall of Fame in 2017.
Kelley Lee, Government Relations Manager, Local Public Affairs, Southern California Edison
In Lee’s role at Southern California Edison, she represents South Orange County cities and the County of Orange. Prior to working for Edison, Lee’s passion for public service contributed to her serving for 15 years at the state and county levels of government. She served as a senior policy advisor for Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett where she handled legislation, California State Association of Counties (CSAC), and transportation policy. Lee previously served in strategic communications at Orange County Transportation Authority where she managed outreach for the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and developed presentations for executives. Prior to her work at OCTA, Lee served in a variety of roles for multiple representatives in the California State Assembly including district director. Lee holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach.
Dianne Markis, General Manager, Marriott Irvine Spectrum
Markis has been in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years, working in many different hotel chains including Hyatt, Sheraton, and now Marriott. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her achievements, which include GM’s to Watch, Hotel Management Magazine, Smart Meetings’ Industry Leader, and Greater Irvine Chamber’s top 40-Under-40 leader in 2019. Markis describes her leadership style as a hands-on approach, deeply rooted in valuing diversity, cultivating creativity, and empowering others around her at all levels of an organization to be active in their roles, and pursue excellence. Markis earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance – corporate and international financial management from California State University, Fullerton, and has completed the Real Estate and Asset Management Program from Cornell.
Lanae O’Shields, Public Affairs Manager, SoCalGas
In her role at SoCalGas, supporting 12 cities throughout Orange County, O’Shields provides opportunities to share the SoCalGas story and achieve operational goals safely, efficiently, and always with the customer in mind. O’Shields coordinates company relations with local city and community leaders to develop and enhance SoCalGas partnerships. Prior to joining SoCalGas, she encouraged community engagement through water education with the City of Pomona. Having spent her entire career in the utility industry, O’Shields has developed a unique talent for connecting her organization with its surrounding community. Educating communities about the importance of resources through education has been a driving force for O’Shields. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of La Verne, with an emphasis in governance, and a Bachelor of Psychology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She serves on the board of Precious Life Shelter, Cypress Community College Foundation, Buena Park Boys & Girls Club, and Coastline Community College Foundation. She is also the former chairperson for the local chapter of the American Public Works Association.
Tania Peña, Chief Brand Officer, OmniPrint International Inc.
An international business major from CSU Los Angeles, with a minor in economics, Peña has developed her career in the branding world by representing some of the largest companies in the world such as Anheuser Busch, Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits, as well as other iconic brands throughout the years in different countries. Tania joined OmniPrint International in 2018, where she brings value in various areas such as acting as a liaison between the company and its partner organizations, as well as tending to brand needs and duties. Her expertise also includes trade show planning, logistics, and operations. OmniPrint International’s mission to “Inspire and overdeliver” is something that she is passionate about. Additionally, that mission is engraved in her mindset.
