The CalTravel Summit, on May 29-June 1 in San Diego, brought together the entire travel and tourism industry in the state for three days of timely, issue-driven content, expert insights, interactive workshops, motivation, and one-of-a-kind networking opportunities. Wendy Haase, director of Tourism Marketing, Destination Irvine took part in the summit as part of a larger strategy to keep the award-winning organization a top-performing DMO (destination marketing organization).

The theme of this year's summit was "Voices Carry" and topics included the state of the homeless crisis in California communities; the forecast of the top economic trends and signals that will drive California’s future and what U.S. Travel is doing to protect national travel and tourism advocacy under the current political administration.

Since 1981, CalTravel has protected and enhanced the interests of the California travel and tourism industry through advocacy, collaboration, and education. Haase is serving her second term on the CalTravel Board of Directors and also volunteers on the organization’s marketing committee.
