What is a Certificate of Origin?
A Certificate of Origin (COO) is a document that is required by certain foreign countries for tariff purposes, certifying the country of origin of specified goods.
Why do I need a Certificate of Origin?
A Certificate of Origin is sometimes required in order to comply with international trade treaties, varying duty rates, and preferential duty treatment that is determined by the shipment’s origin.
Note: Some countries (i.e., numerous Middle Eastern countries) require that certificate of origin be notarized, certified by local chamber of commerce and legalized by the commercial section of the consulate of the destination country.
